Scott Thews was always going to be a dentist. Having been born in Richmond while his father was completing his endodontic residency at MCV, Scott cannot remember a time when teeth were not a topic of conversation with his family. As he grew older and the family settled in Roanoke, VA, Scott began volunteering in his father’s office and realized that he shared his father’s passion for understanding the problems of the teeth and the mouth and how these problems could be remedied. While studying at the University of Virginia, Scott became focused on a career in dentistry. After graduating with a degree in Biology from UVA, Scott went on to graduate with honors from VCU School of Dentistry. Dr. Thews and his family fell in love with the Richmond area and Dr. Thews joined Bellgrade Dental Center upon his graduation in 2005. Two years later, he purchased the practice and it continues to grow and thrive to this day.
Dr. Thews feels every patient’s mouth is unique and strives to create a plan to make each patient maintain a healthy, comfortable and attractive smile.
When Dr. Thews is not repairing and maintaining patients’ teeth and gums, he is spending time with his wife, Karla and his children, Alexander and Sofia. He also enjoys listening to jazz, classical and classic rock music. Dr. Thews has been known to hit a golfball or two, as well as play tennis with his wife. He also spends a good deal of time in the kitchen, cooking for family and friends.
Dr. Thews maintains a rigorous schedule of continuing education and training, keeping up to date with the latest and most effective aesthetic and oral health techniques, ensuring his patients are provided with the best treatment possible.

Bellgrade Dental Center requires that you render your estimated co-payment for service provided at the time of each visit.
As a courtesy to you, the business office will be happy to file your insurance claim after we receive verification of an accepted insurance policy.
We accept all PPO plans.
We accept Cash, Check, Visa and Mastercard.
Payment plans through CareCredit are also available (ask our patient coordinator for details).
Dr. Thews and his dental team pride themselves on being timely for each and every visit. We ask our patients to provide 48 hours notice if they must reschedule their appointment.
